Salutations and Hallucinations from the Cult of Fuzz!

 

The big news this month is the upcoming Fuzztones documentary, being filmed as we speak!!! Renowned documentarian Danny Garcia of Chip Baker Films is the mastermind of this long-awaited project, and his credentials are impressive to say the least. He’s responsible for documentaries on The Clash, Johnny Thunders, Sid Vicious, Max’s Kansas City, The Chelsea Hotel and Stiv Bators (currently showing

On Netflix)!!! Besides utilizing vintage footage (some never-before-seen!), many ex-Fuzztones will make appearances in the film, including Deb O’ Nair, Elan Portnoy, Randy Pratt, Andrea Kusten, Vince Dante, Roger Ward, Jake Cavalierre, Chris Harlock, Screamin’ Bo Pille and Fez Wrecker, as well as Rudi and Lana, of course. Several “celebrities” will be taking part as well - but we’ll hold off spilling’ the beans just yet.

 

In the interim, negotiations are underway to re-release the band’s 

album, Teen Trash, on vinyl, with a new title, new art and 4 bonus tracks! The album will be called “Action,” and will utilise the cover art for the band’s 1990 EP, as well as add the four originals that appeared on that EP!

 

And speaking of new vinyl, Cleopatra will soon be releasing a brand new Fuzztones album, entitled “Fuzztones & Fiends” (their title, not ours!) that features several brand new tracks of the band backing rock and blues icons such as Screamin’ Jay Hawkins (2 BRAND NEW tracks), Ann Margret, blues legend Junior Wells, Rockabilly legend Sonny, Mark Lindsay (Paul Revere & The Raiders), Dickie Peterson (Blue Cheer), The Grass Roots and the Association!!!! To top it off the record will also include the band’s unique version of The Cramps, “Can Your Pussy Do The Dog?” And a brand new tune they just finished, entitled “Strange Mysterious Sound.”

 

On the live gig front there happens to be a few rays of hope! The  Fuzztones will be playing the Kyttaro Live Club in Athens, Greece on November 24th! A possible return to Cesena, Italy is planned for December 7th, but not-as-yet confirmed.

 

The big news, though, will be their return to Spain for a full-on TOUR!! Here are the dates:

Monday 12th - A Coruña (Garufa Club)
Tuesday 13th - Oviedo (Gong Galaxy Club)

Friday 16th - Cordoba (Ambigu Exerquia)
Saturday 17th - Murcia (Garaje Beat Club)
Sunday 18th - Barcelona (Marula Cafe)

The band has just secured two booking agents in Holland who are working on a tour there that will start April 4th and go to at least the 9th. More info to come….

The band has also secured a new booker for the United Kingdom, and plans are underway for a short tour based on a prestigious show in London in the near future.

Lastly, Rudi has been busy recording his first solo GARAGE album, which will feature 13 never-before-heard originals. Rudi plays all the instruments except for the drums, which are more than ably handled by ace Fuzztones skin-pounder Marco Rivagli.
